Hello guys!, if your rog ally not charging or power on anymore and no time for RMA for country reasons, use these tips to diagnosis your handheld PC, i Will investigate more about repair this device,
First of all, to be able to check the console step by step you must have patience and skills with the multimeter, they are essential to be able to discover a possible solution. I have seen many users with this problem, it stops charging the battery for no reason.
They say that for the console to return to its normal charge, you have to turn off the console and leave it on for 30/40 seconds and the lights flash.
Also if you press and hold volume down and up at the same time for 40 seconds, it has worked for others by simply removing the battery and pressing the power button for 40 seconds, person if I am being repetitive, but these are the things that some find They have worked, in my case not, because it stopped working for me when I put a generic HDMI combo dock, it could deliver an image, but when I put it to charge this it sounded like some USB device was disconnected and it was disconnected 2 consecutive times and there the battery charging stopped working.
In my case I followed those procedures and they did not work, my console has a warranty but for geographical and availability reasons they are impossible even to ship abroad.
so I decided to disassemble it and with the charger connected make measurements to the coils, they must follow the iFix iT disassembly guide.
have a multimeter on hand and if possible be very careful where you look, that is very important.
You can try this tip to make it turn on if in your case the console is completely dead and without signs of life.
Measure the marked capacitor, if it delivers 5 volts it means that the power supply has input to the motherboard but does not enter into charge negotiation.
then use tweezers or solder a cable (with the charger disconnected obviously and the battery connected)
touch the marked coil for a second, oh if you soldered a wire like me do the same, just touch it for a moment and it will turn on, it is a way to force the ignition, if it turns on there is a light at the end of the tunnel for those who don't They have a guarantee and are even from other countries and have no possibility of sending it to the United States.
Making that momentary touch will raise the battery to 14 volts and it will be functional and turn on, but it will not charge, according to what they say it may be the power delivery charging chip that is mentioned on the iFix iT page is the ITE Tech IT8856FN USB type-C power delivery controller.
Unfortunately there is no schematic of the board, that is confidential and for now there is no information about it.
which there is no detailed data sheet or information about it, which is sad, as far as they tell me, that chip must be programmed, research the type of programmer they use and it costs the same as a console, which is not It would make sense, everything can improve if the board view of the board is released.
I am writing to the manufacturer of the chip in question to ask them to share the chip data sheet to have a more exact idea of where the source input is handled.
For my part, I will continue investigating as long as I have time to continue reviewing the paths of the motherboard, I will keep you informed.
If you don't mind doing the test by replacing it, inform me of any progress, every time I take for this is to make notes and analyze the motherboard.
Update Oct 17/24
aparently, is not the Power Delivery controller.
thats what's i made is a bypass of Kinetic Technologies KTS1681AEUZ-TR 4 A over-voltage protection, redirect 5volts usb c charger and get 20v charging working!
the schematic si not public so, i measure all the mobo these days, the result are satisfactory, from 15% to 100% battery
this is the location i take to done the test.
here my horrible MSpaint to show exactly what i do it. after all is not the Pd controller, a modder on discord about handeld modding tell me thats is the problem, he told me to check black caps on Ohms to get a posible fixing without changing over voltage protection chip, for now we dont have a result's, we provide more updates SOON.
